Nano Surfactant Systems

NanoOptimizer™ is designed for minimum particle size and maximum stability. High-Loader™ is designed for higher active loading, lower cost, and reduced bitterness. Larger particles transmit taste less efficiently, which can be advantageous for bitter actives.

NanoOptimizer produces smaller droplets, typically 20–100 nm. High-Loader supports higher active loading, up to 150 mg/mL, with typical droplet sizes of 200–250 nm. Both surfactants perform optimally with ultrasonic processing, but can be used on other emulsification equipment as well.

We Supply Finished Emulsions

We produce finished oil-in-water nanoemulsions to your specification, in our own cleanroom. Droplet sizes as small as 20–30 nm, volume-weighted average by DLS. Custom actives, mushroom extracts and kava extracts. Sample first, then scale.

Finished emulsions are pasteurized and preserved for ambient shipping and storage. Refrigeration after receipt is recommended to extend shelf life.

The Technology

Ultrasonic cavitation drives the process. A titanium horn vibrating 20,000 times per second creates and collapses vapor cavities, shearing the oil phase into smaller droplets.

The CT-2000 typically delivers 1.2–1.6 kW of actual acoustic output, depending on viscosity. Tip amplitude reaches 100 micron with the included 2:1 half-wave Grade 5 titanium booster.

The life of a cavitation bubble across one pressure cycle A sound wave alternately stretches and compresses the liquid. A vapor bubble nucleates in the stretched half-cycle, grows, then collapses asymmetrically and creates a micro-jet. Pressure at the horn face compression rarefaction Nucleation the liquid tears open Growth vapor fills the cavity Asymmetric collapse one side caves in first Micro-jet and shear breaks up droplets One cycle. This repeats 20,000 times a second, across the whole horn face.
One pressure cycle at the horn face. The bubble nucleates in the stretched half-cycle, grows, then collapses unevenly and creates a micro-jet.

Know Your Processing Cost

Work out the cost per liter of finished nanoemulsion from your target concentration, usage ratio, purchase tier and operator cost.

Surfactant system Both are sold in the same four container sizes, at the same price per kilogram.
Usage ratio Surfactant to active, by weight. A higher ratio gives a tighter distribution.
Batch Concentration is of bulk active in the finished emulsion.

liters
Container size Price per kilogram decreases as container size increases. The same pricing tiers apply to both systems.
Processing Throughput determines operator time per liter. The ranges shown reflect the published throughput tiers.
